SHUTE, Nevil. In the Wet

£100.00

SHUTE, Nevil. In the Wet. London: Heinemann. 1953. 8vo. First edition, first printing. Publisher’s red cloth lettered in gilt to the spine, in the wraparound dust jacket designed by Val Biro. A fine copy, the cloth clean and bright, the binding tight and square, the contents clean and fine throughout without stamps, inscriptions, or foxing. The dust jacket unclipped (12s 6d net) and complete, fine but for some very light rubbing to the spine tips and corners.

Nevil Shute’s anti-socialist, pro-monarchist (how did it get on here, then?) novel leaps into mid-80s Britain in a story which involves much of the themes that made him a best-selling author —romance, normal people, and aircraft. Uncommon in such sharp condition.
