MCGAHERN, John. The Leavetaking. London: Faber and Faber. 1974. 8vo. First edition, first printing. Publisher’s black cloth lettered in gilt to the spine, in the dust jacket. An excellent example overall, the cloth clean and bright, the binding tight and square. The spine tips a trifle bumped, but minor. The textblock very lightly and evenly toned throughout from paper quality. With one ink ownership initials to front endpaper corner dated 1980, else clean. The dirt jacket unclipped, with a handful of very small closed tears and a little rubbing to the spine tips and corners, mostly made discreet by the jacket’s photographic design. A handsome copy.
The author’s third novel and, as per his first two, critically acclaimed.
