MAINE, Charles Eric. The Darkest of Nights

£75.00

MAINE, Charles Eric [pseud. for David McIlwain]. The Darkest of Nights. London: Hodder and Stoughton. 1962. 8vo. First edition. Publisher’s orange cloth lettered in dark green to the spine, in the dust jacket designed by John Woodcock. A very good copy, the orange cloth and titles vibrant and clean, a trifle bumped. The binding tight and perhaps a trifle rolled. A few faint marks to the textblock edges, but the contents largely fine, a touch of offsetting to the endpapers with remnants of an old sale price to the front pastedown. The dust jacket price-clipped, a few short closed tears and a little rubbing to the extremities. Uncommon.

A portrayal of a global pandemic originating in China which acts as trigger for worldwide skirmishes, revolutions, and counter-revolutions.
