Publisher’s supremely attractive red cloth lettered and elaborately decorated in gilt to the spine and front board, all edges gilt. Charming illustrated endpapers, colour frontispiece, and a further eleven full-page colour illustrations, all present, sixteen black and red plates, six black and white plates, and numerous text illustrations, all of which exquisite. This copy very handsome indeed. Backstrip faded somewhat, but the gilt here and to front board always bright. The corners gently rubbed, but the binding tight and square. The contents largely fine, some light grubbiness from handling, patchy toning in places to prelims and very occasionally elsewhere, but usually fine.
