GIBRAN, Kahlil. The Prophet

£450.00

GIBRAN, Kahlil. The Prophet. London: Heinemann. 1929. Third impression. The third British printing of Gibran’s iconic work of prose poetry, published three years after the first British edition and six years after the true first, published by Knopf. Gibran’s work on the human condition remains one of the most translated works and it has never been out of print. Early jacketed copies are scarce. The publisher’s purple cloth relatively clean, some fading to the extremities, light rubbing to corners. The binding tight, a few leaves pulled, 23-26pp nearly detached but all holding well enough. The dust jacket, uncommon though it is, poor, with several tape repairs to verso, several chips, nicks, bumps, spots, and tears to spine and front flap joints with some tears, loss to most corners.
