EBEJER, Francis. A Wreath for the Innocents (signed)
EBEJER, Francis. A Wreath for the Innocents. London: MacGibbon and Kee. 1958. 8vo. First edition. Publisher’s black cloth lettered in gilt to the spine, in the dust jacket designed by Jillian Richards. A presentation copy inscribed by the author to Dom Mintoff, the former Prime Minister of Malta, and his wife. A very good copy overall, the cloth clean, the gilt slightly dulled, the binding tight with tips very gently bumped. The contents clean, with a secondary gift inscription from Mintoff to ‘Peta’, presumably close family friend. The dust jacket unclipped, rubbed and bumped to all corners, tips and joints, some light stains.
A striking copy, written by Malta’s most famous author and gifted by him to Malta’s then PM. The novel itself follows doomed lovers and an old priest in Malta, rent by political strife.
