CHAMBERLAIN, Anne. The Tall Dark Man

£50.00

CHAMBERLAIN, Anne. The Tall Dark Man. London: Rupert Hart-Davis. 1955. 8vo. First edition. Publisher’s green cloth lettered in gilt to the spine, in the striking dust jacket designed by Peter Rudland, with the Book Society Recommendation bellyband. A very good or better copy, the cloth clean and bright, just a trifle bumped to the spine tips. The binding tight and square, the contents clean barring a few pencil inscriptions and marginalia, the textblock edges just gently spotted. The dust jacket unclipped (10s 6d net) with several small nicks, chips, and light rubbing. The bellyband with tape repair to spine panel but nevertheless uncommon.

An uncommon psychological suspense novel which begins with the daydreaming teenage protagonist witnessing a murder. It was well-received and adapted to the screen in a one-hour episode of ‘Robert Montgomery Presents’. Uncommon.
