Publisher’s black and grey cloth boards lettered and decorated in orange to spine and front board, in the dust jacket designed by Robert Hallock. A very good copy. The cloth clean and bright, very gently bumped to corners, spine tips pushed, but sharp, the binding tight and square. The contents clean and fine throughout. The dust jacket unclipped ($4.50), complete with several small chips around spine head and tail, a few closed tears, most noticeably at front panel top edge, and some light rubbing to extremities.
A very respectable copy of the author’s magnum opus and winner of the National Book Award for Fiction. Interwar Chicago and endlessly hopeful Augie seems never able to achieve… something, on account of not having the goal to achieve it… and so moralistic, comic, in the Great American Novel style, lauded as such.
