BELL, R. Principles of Liberty. London: Henry Walter. 1937. 8vo. First edition. Publisher’s red cloth lettered in gilt to the spine, in the dust jacket. A very good copy, the cloth clean and just a trifle bumped, the binding tight and slightly rolled, some light marks to the textblock edges and the contents largely fine, a few mild marks. With three illustrations including the striking frontispiece of ‘the Limited Robot’. The dust jacket unclipped (3/6 net) with several small nicks and chips, tear along bottom joint, a little grubbiness but still a bright example.

A book ‘designed to show the Workers of the World a way out from the chaotic state of present-day troubles’. Put together by way of standalone essays on the various forms of governance, considering the pros and cons of each, and quite carefully remarked upon by different classes. Published, of course, near the zenith of many of these doctrines.
