A Long Day’s Dying, Frederick Buechner. 1950. New York: Alfred A. Knopf. 8vo. First edition, first printing of the author’s first book. Black cloth with faded gilt to spine in original dust jacket. This copy belonging to Scottish author and literary critic, David Daiches, with his ownership obscurity to front endpaper. A very good book, the binding tight and square, the spine gilt dulled. Red topstain fairly bright, textblock clean. Internally clean and mostly fine despite one or two small marks. Jacket un lipped with some loss and chips to spine tips, the corners and flap joints rubbed and worn, but an altogether presentable copy. Uncommon.
